It had been too long!

I've been totally out of touch with blogging lately! Second year has kept me crazy busy!

So I should spill the beans on what I have been up to. Right now I'm creating a WWI Royal Flying Corps maternity jacket. Its been a real pain trying to find some Khaki Serge Wool! Its going to be so expensive, but it will be worth it in the end.

Anyone have any information about WWI costumes? It would be appreciated.

Well here are some images of what I shall be replicating.

Any thoughts?

Well I promise to update again soon!

Thanks

Visit to Bowes

Have any of you heard of  Bowes Museum? An awesome museum in Barnard Castle, well worth a visit as they always have something new to look at, and the town is beautiful too! There is an awesome little chocolate shop with hand made sweet treats, I can resist a look in when I'm there, anyway I'm getting off topic!

Bowes had two amazing exhibitions on, the Blackborn lace collection and the Laura Ashley exhibition. Both were pretty amazing, we did not get a chance to work with the lace as our group was too large. However the curator of the lace, I apologize I have forgotten her name, gave us an interesting lecture about the history of the lace. I now see lace in a whole new light, which I am sure she will be pleased with!

Then we moved onto the Laura Ashely collection, OMG how amazing are her prints?! I love how they styled them all to resemble dresses from different eras, however this did confuse some little old ladies, seeing a dress that was lableled '1970' but was styled from the 1800's they commented 'no way would I have been seen dead in that in the 70's, looks like something my granny would have worn!'. I did my good deed for the day and explained the collection to them. As ususal I have been getting off course, well here are the pictures you've been dying to see!
